Winter Torridon elopement adventure inspiration
Colin + Anna had their wee wedding at the Edinburgh City Chambers but retreated to their favourite place in Scotland to enjoy that post-ceremony high. The Wester Ross area of Scotland had captured their hearts over and over – they couldn’t think of a better place to commemorate this special occasion (and with their gorgeous puppy!).
Wester Ross after wedding adventure
Wester Ross is such an incredible part of Scotland (and is definitely amongst my top favourites!). It’s hard to go wrong with whichever part of the region you choose. It feels like it has every landscape and scene possible – whether it’s dramatic mountains, lochs, white sand beaches, waterfalls or castle ruins! Anna and Colin had weighed up whether to go to Assynt or Torridon but in the end, they chose Torridon for its rugged mountains and plentiful Lochs.
What I love most about the Wester Ross area is how vast and untouched it feels. Even though the area has significantly increased in tourists since the introduction of the NC500 driving route (said to be one of the most beautiful routes in the world!) it’s not hard to feel spellbound by it’s wild and untamed charm.
Adventuring in wedding outfits during winter in Torridon
Colin + Anna specifically chose to enjoy Torridon in the late Winter – telling me they didn’t want to be there in the warmer months. Scotland has a certain magic just before Spring kicks off and it is well worth braving the cooler temperatures for the colours, soft light and the privacy it offers.
They took the age-old Scottish wisdom of “there is no bad weather, only bad clothes” to heart and came ready for whatever the day might throw at them. Colin wore his tweed kilt suit and Anna wore her beautiful Outlander-esque felt jacket and leggings under her skirt. It made such a difference to their comfort levels!
OMG, these are amazing! Love them so much. They’re better than we could have imagined.
Thank you so much for being our photographer for this special day. We had such a great time, and we can’t thank you enough.

Why not elope in Torridon
Whilst Anna + Colin didn’t marry in Torridon itself, the area is a wonderland for elopers. If you love being out in the wilds and are looking for somewhere away from the crowded tourist spots, then it is definitely worth considering this part of Scotland. Because the area is a bit more remote, you have to plan a little harder to make sure you have access to amenities (especially if you’re planning a winter Torridon elopement!) but I can assure you, it’s well worth doing! Your imagination will run amok in this place.
Bring your dog to your elopement
And this area is super dog-friendly. Anna + Colin’s gorgeous wee puppy had almost as much fun as they did! They brought an extra-long play lead so he could be tied up but still able to roam a bit whilst we explored a little (but still keeping an eye on him!).
