Wet and wild Isle of Mull couples adventure
Whilst the Outer Hebrides + Isle of Skye tend steal the limelight when it comes to Scottish Islands, don’t overlook the Inner Hebrides – especially the Isle of Mull for your next couples adventure or elopement. This large island is easily reached by a short 45-mins ferry from Oban on the mainland to the quaint + colourful fishing town of Tobermory on Mull.
This incredibly diverse island captured the hearts of Narma + David who were keen to head away from the main photography hotspots to see other beautiful parts of Scotland together. It was late springtime and the transition of the seasons brought some pretty wild weather conditions for their adventure on Isle of Mull.
We were grateful to start the day inside the cosy cottage where Narma + David got ready for the day. They got dressed and spent time sharing one of their favourite activities – playing music together. We had plans to visit the very South of the island but the weather forecast was looking extremely wet and windy for the whole day. We let the weather guide us and headed to the West where weather reports were looking a bit milder. As is the nature of Scottish weather, it turned very quickly and we still battled against the driving wind and rain but we were no less joyful for it!
Narma + David completely surrendered to the elements thrown at them and we all loved every moment! Those dreary dreich days often make for the most heartfelt real adventures.
After dancing in the rain, we were all too happy to retreat to the beautiful Isle of Mull Cheese Cafe for a delicious cheese board and some hot drinks whilst we dried off a little! Finishing up the day seeking out shipwrecked boats and meeting Highland coos (cows).
We can’t thank Narma + David for trusting us to guide them on a day-long adventure on this wonderful wee island – being led along by the whims of mother nature!

And then hop over to one of Scotland’s greatest geological wonders – Isle of Staffa with it’s incredible basalt columns. There’s also the popular day trip over to Isle of Iona with it’s rich historical significance and famous abbey.
4. Whisky
If you’re planning to drink from a quaich during your elopement or adventure session then why not visit the Tobermory whisky distillery for a tour beforehand. You can get some local whisky to pop into your quaich!
