I’ve known Jonny for quite a few years through performing in the Beltane Fire Festival and was delighted when he reached out about gifting his girlfriend with a session in the Highlands.

We started planning their winter adventure session, settling on Glencoe because they both loved the drama!

I always take the time to get to know my couples, how they met, their love languages, and how they would love to spend their sessions together.

Helen told me she had always wanted to frolick about in the Highlands, and Jonny was kind enough to indulge her. Plus, he’d always fancied dancing about on a hill. We settled on Glencoe as one of their special requests was to be near water with epic mountains and glens behind them.

Glencoe is gorgeous in the winter months, beautifully still with not a tourist in sight.

Our session started on a quiet winter afternoon, with the peaks of the mountains dusted with snow and rain clouds looming. Naturally, the rain began almost as soon as I started photographing, but it didn’t dampen our enthusiasm for being in a quiet Glencoe surrounded by Winter’s beauty.

And it certainly wasn’t going to get in the way of Jonny getting down on one knee. Which he did at the spot that Helen was most excited about visiting.

There were tears all around, and I gave them a few moments of privacy while the rain beat down so they could revel in the sheer joy of it all. After which, we were all grateful for the car heaters!

Jonny + Helen wanted to end their session by wandering in the moors by lantern light after the last light faded… making it a magical end to a magical afternoon.
