Nature-based spiritual elopement in Glen Etive

This spiritual elopement in Glen Etive honours two wild hearts. Entangled in love and passion, rooted in the Scottish highland their elopement celebrated the five elements of nature.
Scotland has a way of calling to you. A way of making you feel home, even if you’ve never been before. It’s a strange phenomenon and we’ve heard stories of that inexplicable feeling over and over again.
Evelina & Markus felt called to the Scottish Highlands from Sweden for their romantic spiritual elopement ceremony.
Getting ready for their elopement in Glen Etive
Just as they had always dreamed, the couple spent the morning in a gorgeous Sitooterie, where they wrote their vows on sheets of delicate handmade paper and pressed flowers.
After taking a moment to centre themselves they shared a heartfelt first look inside Sitooterie. Where they gathered the elements for their ceremony, and helped each with the final touches of getting ready. This is such an intimate way to enjoy your first look, and feels like a beautiful ritual to enjoy together.
Incorporating ancient Celtic traditions for their ceremony
Barefooted, they stood on the edge of a loch in Glen Etive, to make their commitment to each other.
The ceremony started by including the element of air – with Evelina and Markus performing a sage smudging cleansing ritual.
The next element was earth – as they placed their hands on an oathing stone and exchanged their vows. They had an ancient handfasting ceremony and finished off toasting to their vows with a quaich filled with whisky.
Being so near to the third element water – the couple waded into the loch to celebrate. Showering each other with natural confetti and dipping their feet into the icy waters.
A deep-rooted respect for Mother Nature
We spent the rest of the day adventuring in Glencoe, chasing stags, soaking up the breathtaking landscape and sacred spaces. As daylight faded and the misty clouds rolled in, we lit some lanterns and played around in the fading light.
To end a perfect day, the couple shared a meal together at the Kingshouse Hotel, where we said our goodbyes, dropping them off at St Mary’s for a quiet evening together by the fire. The perfect way to bring in the fifth and final element to this Elopement in Glen Etive.
Ritual and being present is an important part of their day-to-day life and it was an honour to help them craft an experience that would safeguard those elements for them on their wedding day.
