Edinburgh City Chambers micro-wedding

A joy-filled intimate wedding at the Edinburgh City Chambers for this wonderful same-sex couple, Peter and Shen.

Wedding days never go 100% to plan… When I first sat down with Pete + Shen to discuss their wedding they were really keen to spend their wedding morning having a wee wander around Holyrood Park in the morning. But mother nature had other plans… As when I arrived at their home in the morning, I was already incredibly soggy from heavy Scottish rain.

Normally I would suggest braving the elements because often rainy photos make for beautiful ones. But even by my brave standards, this was going to be too wet for some pre-ceremony photos. What it did mean was that I had to think fast on my feet, using the options available to me inside their beautiful little flat. Luckily for me, Peter and Shen have impeccable personality-filled decor skills so their home turned out to be a beautiful place for some quick photos together.

Edinburgh City Chambers Micro-Wedding

Surrounded by a small number of their closest friends and family, Peter and Shen headed to the Edinburgh City Chambers on the Royal Mile for their ceremony.

It’s a grand building located right in the heart of the city, giving us plenty of places to explore after. The ceremony was held in the Alexander Suite – a lovely short ceremony witnessed by all their fave people.

Exploring Edinburgh on your wedding day

After the ceremony, we explored inside the Chambers for a little while, waiting for the rain to subside. We threw up the umbrellas and wandered round old town together, whilst Peter + Shen revelled in the high of just getting married. This part of the city is so diverse – lots of amazing architecture, narrow streets and winding roads to see.

They headed back to Stocks, a restaurant bar on the Royal Mile to celebrate with friends and family. A perfect little hideaway just around the corner from the Edinburgh City Chambers.

As I made my way back to my car, the most beautiful sunset popped out over Holyrood Park. I eagerly gave Peter + Shen a quick call to see if they were close to home… We managed to make it out to the park together as the last of the sun was setting. We did get our little Holyrood adventure afterall!
