Pentland Hills after-wedding adventure session – Edinburgh

Karo + Sam popped their wedding outfits back on to have some after-wedding photos taken in the beautiful Pentland Hills surrounding Edinburgh. It was early Autumn and the very last of the purple heather was lingering. In late summer, the whole of the Pentland Hills lights up purple with the bloom which is an incredible sight to see. This area, just on the outskirts of Edinburgh, is a highly underrated place. There are so many places you can access the hills from and each spot has its little hidden gems to discover. We had a wonderful time with Karo + Sam exploring and it was such a joy to capture their easy-going sweet connection with each other.

Reasons to get some after-wedding photos taken…

There are lots of great reasons why a post-wedding photo session in your outfits is a great idea, let’s have a look!

Give those outfits another whirl

Why leave a beautiful item to languish in your wardrobe forevermore, untouched? We spend a lot of time and attention (and often money!) on these things so why not enjoy it for more than one day.

Enjoy some time to connect with each other after a full-on wedding day

Whether you’ve eloped, had a micro-wedding or had a big celebration, getting married often comes with a lot of pressure, planning and expectations. Quite simply, it’s a high-stakes kinda day. So you may find yourself reflecting on the day and wishing you’d had more time to just relax and connect with your partner. This is when a post-wedding photoshoot in Scotland can be a lovely thing to do together.

Explore new places and create new adventures as a married couple

Marriage isn’t the happily ever after. I know it sounds cliche’d but being married doesn’t suddenly mean you slop down into a co-habitual routine. Keep trying new things, seeing new places and creating new memories – that’s one of the fundamentals of marriage. A photo session in a wonderful place (i.e. in Scotland) is a heckin’ good way to do this. Even if you live in Scotland, there are always new places in this incredible place to discover.

Create something different for the wall

For whatever reason, you might not have an image in your wedding attire that you feel you’d want to pop up on the wall. Maybe you really loved the idea of an image where you’re dressed up but out in the wilds but didn’t have time on your wedding day to go out into nature for this. That doesn’t mean the opportunity is lost forever, there are no rules here. Pop those clothes back on and let’s create something print-worthy.

Celebrate a milestone

This one is simple. And a wonderful ‘excuse’ for a post-wedding shoot (not that you need one, truly you don’t). It also makes a fab gift to each other… The gift in the first year of marriage is traditionally paper or cotton so why not have a photo session then get the photos printed onto fine art paper or cotton rag.

Cure for the post-wedding blues

You’ve probably heard of the post-wedding blues. After all that planning, prep and excitement then sometimes couples feel a bit deflated and at a bit of a loss after the wedding. Going on a wee adventure is bound to cure that.

Day-after adventure

Getting married with a small group of family/friends and wrestling with the timeline for a long adventure you’re wishing you could have? Then why not choose my 1.5-day elopement + intimate wedding package… It means you can head off the next day on an adventure, just the two of you, completely guilt-free.
