A soulful, witchy waterfall elopement
Kerri and JP wanted to include the element of water into their soulful witchy elopement ceremony, where the mist and magic of this hidden waterfall would represent a sacred moment, only shared between themselves (and their favourite furry companion, Betsy).

Keeping the magic – why this witchy waterfall elopement location remains unnamed
JP wanted to propose on the grounds of his ancestors, so he convinced Kerri to go to Poland to see a very specific castle (this was a ruse; he had already seen this castle). What was meant to be a quiet picnic proposal near the beach was interrupted by a mystery audience clapping and congratulating the couple.
While they got some lovely (unexpected) footage of their engagement, they wanted to make sure they had a bit more privacy for their elopement. This is part of the reason why I love keeping some locations unnamed: to keep their mystery alive.
I knew this hidden waterfall location (only accessible through a forest) would be the perfect spot for them. It represented the water element and was secluded, which was important to them, as they wanted to have these elements represented in their ceremony.
Their ceremony was split into two parts, but let’s start at the beginning.
The morning of their elopement was filled with conversations through the mezzanine of their log cabin, unseen but heard whilst getting ready and enjoying a slow start with some jigsaw puzzling.
They shared a joyous first look on the deck (for Kerri + Betsy!) before heading to a nearby quiet forest for part 1 of their ceremony rituals. It began with the element of fire – a smudging ritual to cleanse the space.
Surrounded by mossy trees, they shared their personal vows to each other over an oathing stone (a wee bit of witchy vibes). After this special private moment, we headed out to one of our favourite places in Scotland.
With an incredible waterfall as their backdrop, this represented the element of water in part 2 of their ceremony. They enjoyed a beautiful, soulful ceremony by Andrea @soulful.celebrant (true to her name). It was only enhanced by Betsy’s demands to play fetch, which Dave and I tag-teamed on to make sure she was appropriately distracted hehe.
Another unexpected synchronicity – how Betsy honoured the water element too
As the light began to fade, K+J sealed their vows into the oathing stone in the water, Betsy got a wee swim. After rescuing her, they shared their first dance, followed by some lantern-lit wanderings before reluctantly beginning to make our way back along the trail in the dark.
Trail walking can be a little daunting after dark but we’d come prepared (as always!) and it was SO worth it! What an incredible day with the loveliest people in the autumnal beauty of this glorious glen.
