Maternity bump shoot on Scottish beach | Emily
Women are pretty damn spectacular aren’t they? It’s incredible what the female body can do in creating life for another being. The more I do maternity shoots the more I’m in awe of this.
Emily came to me as it was really important to her that she had photos to remember this precious time. She wanted to make sure she had these photos to share with her daughter when she was old enough to understand their meaning.
But she didn’t want to just document this time, she wanted to celebrate it – and feel beautiful in it. Which was even more inspiring after she’d told me that the pregnancy had been an especially tough one.
A creative person with many talents, Emily wanted to get across some of her unique style in the shoot. An avid tribal bellydancer, we incorporated some movement and dance into our session together.
Shooting on the stunning Aberdour beach in fife, a slight haar hung in the air and we had the beach mostly to ourselves. It was the perfect spot for a bit of dancing!
Shooting with Emily was instantly like shooting one of my close friends – we had SO much to talk about and my god, we couldn’t stop laughing! We took the shoot nice and easy, taking lots of breaks – eating cake and drinking tea. That said, even though Emily wasn’t feeling 100% strong she powered through the shoot with enthusiasm and SO much strength.
Emily and her husband Scott welcomed their beautiful daughter, Josephine, on the 23rd June.
“Raini is an amazing lady and a very talented photographer. She took some shoots of me and my baby bump and not only were the photos really beautiful she completely put me at ease, made me feel super gorgeous and supplied me with delicious cups of tea and pieces of cake to keep me warm throughout the shoot! “
